Taxation

Taxation is nothing but a euphemism for armed robbery. When you are told your land our your money, either something is being stolen from you, or you are renting your land from the government.

In a libertarian society there is no need for taxation as all of the services currently provided by the government will likely be better provided by the free market, and either way would be paid for entirely through user fees or donations.

Before we get to a libertarian society there are steps those in power could take now to lead to a more free and just society. Currently property taxes fund most of the goods and services county government provides like the sheriff and plowing roads.

There are several different options we could have. If property tax is eliminated and the services provided by the county are still needed, private business should naturally find a niche their. If people wanted to county government to be the one to provide the service, the county to charge for it directly to those who use it. Whether it be business owners that want employees and customer to be able to safely make it to the place of business, or insurance companies that want someone watching over the neighborhood so there is less claims against them for damages.

Free Software

Jim Fulner longs for a society where people choose to freely share with one another without fear of copyright infringement or being sued over so-called intellectual property rights.

We do not need to wait until we have a libertarian society to achieve this. There is a growing Freedom of Creation movement that was started by software hackers like Jim through the Free Software movement.

Free Software refers not to price, but to the freedom to use as you choose; see the code (what makes up the software's inner being) change and improve it, in a share-and-share-a-like fashion. Think free as in free speech not free as in free beer. In fact you may be using Free Software right now if you're reading this webpage using a free browser like Firefox, or the Google Android Browser. This website was designed almost entirely with free software, particularly GNU Emacs.

Even in our current non-free society our government officials could better the human condition by using and encouraging others to use free software. For example current voting machines are often not trusted as its difficult to verify for certain that the votes going in are the same as the votes that are being reported. Often, even when recounts are called for officials just query the same information from the machine. Hand counting of ballots is slow and actually more likely to have a mistake than electronic ballots, but current non-free voting machines are likely subjects for election fraud. If our elected officials were required to use free software on the voting machine, we in the community could regularly verify that indeed what the code they publish says it is doing and what is happening are the same. We could see if they are trying to pull one over and rig an election, or more likely that a simple mistake was made.

While we still have public schools, they could begin to use only free software. This would encourage more developers to give to the free software community as they know that almost every child in America will see it; much like Apple Computer did in the 1980s. There is already little if any need for formal "this is how to use a computer" training in school, when switching to free software we could encouraging the students to examine more easily as to WHY when they click this it does that, sparking interest in science and engineering, a skill that we in Michigan need badly. (Even with our high unemployment rate, the automotive industry is currently well short on necessary engineers).

Using free software will save the tax payers money. While it’s true that not all free software is free-of-charge, much of it is, and the cost of operation including support, hardware, upgrades, etc. almost always will cost significantly less when using free software over its non-free (proprietary) competitors.

Why support Jim Fulner?

The same reason you support any Libertarian candidate. To spread the message. 2016, more than ever is the time Michiganders are acing for a new option. Supporting Fulner (whether it be finicially or by promting he and his ideals through social media, talk radio, and the like) encourages others to support Jim Promoting the libertarian no-tax revolution with Jim Fulner gives Michigan a chance to here the ideas of liberty one more time. If people hear a lie enough time, they tend to believe it, which is why the truth must be spread as often as possible by whatever means possible.

The most valuable activity you can have for the campaign now is join or renew your membership in the Libertarian Party of Michigan.

Regardless if you choose to join the Party, regardless if you donate to the campaign, Jim stil asks one thing from everyone on or before November 8, 2016. Please thoughtfully and meditatively read the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE. After you do, ask yourself if the government we have now is protecting individual rights. If after reading the Declaration you decide that the government has become destructive to these ends, and as Thomas Jefferson wrote, we have a duty to abolish it, than you have a much more important job than just putting a check mark on a piece of paper. We ask that you take to the streets and start your own non-violent libertarian revolution.
